Ladurée

you know how it feels when you take a bite of the most delicious dessert you've ever had? that's how i felt when i bit into my macaroon at Ladurée.

this is a place my friend J recommended me to visit as soon as i arrived in Paris. they're known for having amazing desserts and pastries, and i definitely wasn't disappointed.

there's the option of dining inside, or you can visit the counter at the bakery and pick out some desserts to go. though i wasn't too hungry at the time, i felt the need to spend some money because everything looked wonderful. i challenge anyone to walk into that place and not be amazed. just look at the cute macaroon tower in the window!

when you walk in, you are literally met with row and rows of dainty little cakes, desserts, and pastry options that are hand crafted and (probably) taste as amazing as they look.

i obviously haven't tried everything there, but i'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

presenting, the main course:

i chose to get 2 mini-macaroons because the large ones were €5.20 each, and that was a bit out of my price range. the flavours they offer range from basic chocolate and vanilla to rose & grapefruit and blackcurrant violet.

the first one i ate was the mini macaron de pistache (pistachio) (€2.00 for one, or €7 for 4) - oh. my. goodness.

literally, love at first bite. i don't even know how to describe it, aside from the fact that i know for sure i'd go broke living in Paris. i'd have to eat these every other day or something. there were bits of ground pistachio in the filling, and the cookie part - super chewy, super light, super delicious.

i also bought a mini macaron de fleur d'oranger (orange blossom).

normally i'm quite suspicious of flowers in my food (ex. i hate fruit or flower teas), but this wasn't bad at all. in fact, it was fabulous. you taste the orange first, and then there's a faint floral aftertaste. gosh...i don't even know how to describe it so that you understand!! haha. can you sense my love for these precious cookies?

thankfully there's a Ladurée in London, so i can have access to it a few more times before i head back to LA. but seriously - it's amazing. you need to try them.
